Terms and Conditions

These terms govern the sale of goods by JP Used Motors and Machinery, Durban, South Africa, and your use of jpusedmotoresandmachines.co.za. By requesting a quote or placing an order you accept them. Last updated 2 September 2026.

1. Quotes and orders

Prices shown on this website are indicative and include VAT at 15 percent. They do not include delivery. A quote becomes binding only once we issue it in writing with the unit, the price, the VAT, the warranty terms and the freight cost stated. Quotes are valid for 7 days unless stated otherwise, and are subject to the unit still being available when you accept.

Most stock is one of a kind. Where you place an order through the checkout, the order is an offer to buy and is accepted by us only once we confirm availability and the payment has cleared. If a unit has already been sold when your order arrives, we will tell you and refund you in full.

Some listings, in particular electric motors, compressors, generators and workshop machinery, describe a type of unit we carry rather than one specific item. Those listings are priced and confirmed on enquiry.

2. Fitment

We will confirm fitment in writing against the engine, gearbox or nameplate code that you supply. It is your responsibility to supply the correct code. Where we confirm a code and supply a unit matching it, we have met our obligation, even if the code you gave us was not the code on your vehicle or machine.

3. Payment

Payment is by electronic funds transfer, either through the checkout on this website or against a written quote or invoice. Our banking details are shown on the order confirmation page, in the order email and on every quote. Please use your order or quote number as the payment reference. Goods remain our property until payment has cleared in full. We do not accept card payments through this website.

4. Delivery and risk

Delivery is quoted per order. Lead times given are estimates and are not guaranteed. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery to the address you gave us, or on collection from our yard. Offloading at your premises is your responsibility for units over 200kg unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

5. Condition of goods

Most goods are used or reconditioned and are sold as inspected. A small number of listings are new parts and are marked as such on the product page. Each used unit is inspected before listing and we describe honestly what we found. Wear consistent with the age and use of the unit is to be expected and is reflected in the price.

6. Warranty

Tested mechanical units carry a 3 month warranty from delivery or collection. Workshop machinery carries 30 days functional cover. The warranty covers the core of the unit and excludes consumables, ancillaries, and damage caused by incorrect fitment, overheating, oil starvation or misuse. Fitment by a qualified technician and the replacement of specified consumables are conditions of cover. Our maximum liability under any warranty claim is limited to the purchase price of the unit. 7. Returns

Returns are handled as set out on our refunds and returns page. Units that have been fitted, stripped, machined or modified cannot be returned for a change of mind.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including labour costs, towing, vehicle downtime, loss of income, hired replacements or damage to other components. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

9. Intellectual property

The content, photographs and layout of this website belong to JP Used Motors and Machinery. You may not copy our listings, descriptions or images for commercial use without written permission.

10. Personal information

We process personal information in line with our privacy policy and POPIA.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
